You know that whole boy boycott? Well maybe it is over… although it is probably not something to be overly proud of. The boy in question… #1 is very cute: dimples, #2 is very smart: getting his doctorate #3 is very cool: funny, athletic and well traveled and (here is where it goes down hill) #4 is in a relationship :(
He confided in my friend (he is my friend’s boyfriend’s roommate) that the relationship is on its way to the grave, but yeah – not quite over yet. But she still was determined to play match-maker with us, and despite his girlfriend there was a spark of interest on his part. A bit intoxicated, I proceeded to flirt incessantly – and innocently of course – with him. He flirted back but told my friend that he couldn’t do anything regardless of how he felt. She of course rushed over to tell me what he said and then I told him that I totally got it but he knew where to reach me if his relationship status changed. So it is all out of my hands but I certainly wouldn’t mind hearing from him when (if) he does end things with his girlfriend.
In addition to introducing me to the cute but attached boy, my friend also pulled a rock star move and got me a happy birthday wish from an actual (almost) rock star. We went to see my most favorite Seattle band play and at the end of their set when the bar was closing down, Ian (the lead singer) was sitting with a few people just a couple of tables down from us. She walked right up to him and said “My friend likes your band, thinks you are cute and is celebrating her birthday today.” He got up walked over towards me (thankfully it was dark and he couldn’t see how red my face was) and gave me a birthday hug. During our short conversation, I was in heaven and certainly star struck. My friends had to wipe the drool off my chin after he left!
The rest of the birthday weekend was great too. My hair looks hott, the skiing was great, Nova beat ND, and I spent a lot of time relaxing. And… only 3 days till vacation and seeing k2 for the first time in over a year!
